Adam Driverdoesn’t see an issue with playing two real-life Italians back to back.
“So many people have been like, ‘How many Italians … ?’ I’m like, ‘It’s just kind of worked out that way,’ ” Driver said. “But I’m like, you know, it’sRidley [Scott]and it’sMichael [Mann]and they’re, in my mind, some of the best filmmakers of all time. Who gives a s— that it was two Italians back to back?”
The two-timeOscarnominee joked that the roles were “probably a good example of not being strategic in a way I probably should [have],” given that Ferrari and Gucci were both of Italian descent.
But still, Driver’s “surprised how much it comes up." He explained, “[It’s like], ‘You have a thing,’ and I’m like, ‘It’s two! It’s two Italians!’ It’s just two.”

In the video, an audience member could be heard asking Driver for his thoughts on how the movie depicts car crashes. The audience member says one scene in question “looked harsh, rustic, and I must say, cheesyfor me,” before asking the actor, “What do you think?”
“F— you, I don’t know,” Driver responded. “Next question.” (A representative for Driver did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.)

Driver previously appeared alongside Mann, 80, and Dempsey, 57, at theVenice Film Festivalin September forFerrari’s world premiere.
At apress conferencefor the movie, Driver shared that while Dempsey, who got to drive vehicles during filming for his role as Ferrari racer athlete Piero Taruffi, the production “wouldn’t let [Driver] drive the cars for insurance reasons.”
“As I said before, making a movie is a miracle andthey don’t want me touching the thing that’s the most expensive part,” he said during that press conference. “I don’t drive the cars, except in pre-production we raced Ferraris — obviously, newer Ferraris, can’t afford the other ones. And then at the beginning, I’m not driving that one, it’s on a dolly.”
“Again, they don’t trust me with small pieces of equipment. Big pieces of equipment like sandwiches, they will let me handle,” Driver joked.
