Stonehas brought her brother to red carpet events, including the 2017 Oscars where she took home Best Actress for her role inLa La Land. She even gave her familya shout-out in her acceptance speech, saying, “I love you so much. Thank you for everything.”

Stone has a tight-knit relationship with her parents, referring to them as the “coolest parents in the world” during a 2011 interview withVanity Fair.

“My dad’s whole philosophy, my mom’s too, is start with the reins out, and if you do something that should break the trust, then the reins come in — instead of starting the reins in and letting them out — which is awful because it turned me into Pinocchio,” she joked of her inability to lie to her parents.

“Since everything was allowed, it made me not want to do crazy s—,” she added.

When Stone won leading actress at the 2024 BAFTA Awards for her role inPoor Thingsin February 2024, she made sure tothank her mom"in case I don’t ever get a chance to again."

“I really want to thank my mom because she’s the best person I know in the world and she inspires me every single day and she’s always made me believe this kind of crazy idea that I could do something like this and I’m beyond grateful,” she said. “Without her none of this exists, including my life, so thanks for that too, mom. Thank you so much.”

She made her parents a PowerPoint presentation when she wanted to become an actress

When Stone wanted to pursue an acting career full-time,she told Jimmy Kimmelthat she made her parents a PowerPoint presentation to convince them.

During her interview withVanity Fair, she revealed that her parents wouldn’t entertain the idea until she found an agent. She eventually linked up with a local acting coach who helped her book a few auditions.

Her mom moved with her to Los Angeles at the start of her acting career

After Stone signed with the Savage Agency, she and her mother signed a six-month lease at the Park La Brea so that she could pursue her acting career full-time.

Duringan appearance onConanin 2011, Stone hilariously recalled bringing her mom to the Golden Globes, whereshe was seated next to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. “She was talking to them about their kids which was really interesting and funny,” she said.

Her mom has her Oscar trophy

After taking home the Oscar for Best Actress in 2017,Stone talked with Seth Meyersabout where she kept her coveted award. “My mom has it,” she revealed, adding that it “felt a little strange” to keep the award in her own house.

Her mom is a breast cancer survivor

In 2008, Stone’s mother was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. “I was oddly stoic, the opposite of how I usually am,“the actress previously saidabout her mother’s diagnosis at the at the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation’s 6th Annual Peace, Love and a Cure cocktail reception. “But it was terrifying.”

In 2012, Stone and her mother participated in the 15th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women, which raises money for women’s cancer research, counseling and outreach programs.

She shares a middle name with her mom

Both Stone and her mom share the middle name Jean, after the actress’ grandmother Jean Louise. In fact,Stone carried on the family name with her own daughter, Louise Jean McCary, perVanity Fair.
