Anya Taylor-Joyis ready for the world to bring audiences back into the Wasteland.
The actress, 27, couldn’t contain her excitement about her upcomingFuriosa: A Mad Max Sagaas she chatted withLaverne Coxon the red carpet ahead of the2024 Academy Awards.
“I think those movies just invite in a certain kind of chaos,” she said on theLive from E!: The Oscarsred carpet pre-show of the franchise, which also includes 1979’sMad Max, 1981’sThe Road Warrior, 1985’sBeyond Thunderdomeand and 2016’sFury Road.
The stories also invite “a certain kind of crazy person” to take them on, she quipped, before sharing that she feels a deep bond to the many actors who have starred in the franchise before.
“So I feel a deep kinship with anyone who’s been out in the Wasteland in any of the films. We’re just — we’re a family,” Taylor-Joy said, adding that allMad Maxalums are “forged in the fire” together.

Among the starry actors who have previously lived in the Wasteland includeMel Gibson, who led the film’s first three movies, as well asTom HardyandCharlize Theron, who were the stars ofFury RoadalongsideZoë KravtizandNicholas Hoult.

The Queen’s Gambitstar previously toldIndieWireshe was the “dirtiest and the bloodiest I have ever been” while filming the movie, which starsChris Hemsworthas a villain.
“I’ve been on a different planet for the last seven months,” she continued of filming in Australia, which took place in 2022. “I think I need to sit down and attempt to try and digest what’s happened over the last seven months.”

Taylor-Joy also officiallygot Theron’s blessingto play the younger version of the character she originated, she revealed inEmpire’s first look at the film.
“She’s been so classy and kind in letting me go and do it,” Taylor-Joy said of Theron, 48. “But I feel very lucky that, from the second I read the script, I just knew this person. I felt so fiercely protective over Furiosa, and fiercely protective of her interests.”
