Mili , who was a technological omen and lighting innovator , showed Picasso some of his photos of chalk skater with tiny lights attached to their skates and jumping in the darkness . The leading artist was so taken by the images that he inquire Mili to try an experiment . Their former attempt at “ light draftsmanship ” were forebode , lead the two to join forces on several task .
Over the course of the same year , Picasso posed for five sessions , projecting 30 drawing of centaurs , bulls , Greek profiles , and his signature .
LIFE magazineexplains how the remarkable effect was achieved :

By leave the shutters open , he caught the light streak whirl through space . ”
This serial of photo , known ever since as Picasso ’s “ light drawings , ” were made with a small galvanising light in a darken room ; in effect , the image vanished as soon as they were created – and yet they still live , six X later on , in Mili ’s playful , hypnotic images .
What ’s peculiarly incredible about these drawings is how Picasso - eque they expect ; these drafting , though etched in slender air , could very well have passed for one of his canvas tent - base draft .
