The Glacier Preservation Project
Only 25 Glaciers rest in the US ’s Glacier National Park – and scientists estimate even those will be gone all by 2020 in the current climate . One man want to keep them through Photography , to ensure succeeding generations can still see them :
Back when it was just me and my hiking buddy from high shoal we always wanted to see every glacier in Glacier National Park . There were 36 then . Today we are down to 25 ! The USGS tells us that my grandkids wo n’t find any leftfield . I was n’t able to visit very many while the kids were young but because of the difficulty in handiness . There are less than a handful that are accessible by track and the rest call for lots of trail watch over by farsighted steep scrambling up thousands of foot . Not for the faint of heart . All told we estimate we will have put in roughly 600 miles of hiking / scramble for discharge our project . Before they are all gone , I desire to visit and capture each remaining glacier from an artist ’s perspective .
