At last we ’ve seen the first instalment of Joss Whedon ’s fresh WWW serial , Dr. Horrible ’s Sing - Along Blog , and it ’s sweeter than we ’d ever imagine . And I do stand for sweet : It ’s the fib of a romantic but malign sick scientist , Dr. Horrible ( Neil Patrick Harris ) , who need nothing more than to snag the attending of a cute girl named Penny who goes to his launderette . Sure , he has a few other goals : He wants to bring together Bad Horse , drawing card of the Evil League of Evil ( which he ’s been applying to get into via mail ) ; and he ’s hop-skip to take over the macrocosm . The song , one of which we ’ve got for you here , are well - arrange and well - written . I am enthrall by the fact that Whedon has turned Dr. Horrible ’s account of his freeze ray into a passion song .
Each section of the serial will be a videoblog - style post from Dr. Horrible in which he answer email ( in the shot above , he explain how his transmatter twist pass away a piffling wrong on a gold brick ) , sings , pay heed out with his evil buddy Moist ( power of making things inert ) , and tangles with his bane Captain Hammer ( Nathan “ Mal from Firefly ” Fillion ) . Fillon is marvelously campy in the purpose of Captain Hammer , whose uniform is a metric ton - shirt with a mallet on it ( about to be The net ’s Most cherished Tee ) and rubber gloves .
