Design
A steel band connects the flatness black foam and pleather on - spike cup , and a leather inside band sit on top of your head . Plenty of shock .
Using It
Designed to be used on the go , the Harman Kardon CLs are sore enough to deliver plenty of detail , clarity and basso from a smartphone , tab or calculator . But they also respond well to more index . When plugged into Audioengine ’s D1 DAC and headphone amp , 320 kbps racetrack instantly sounded clear . Bass tightened , resolution improved , and highs scintillate . The low-down end frequencies were a bite too boomy , and the mids could be a bit more present , but nothing sounded forged . All in all , audio coming from the cl is stellar .
The Best Part
Versatility . utilise them at household or on the go . practice them with expensive geartrain or mass - marketplace electronics . Shove ’em in a bag . Put them on display . There are few other earpiece that work in as many situations .
Tragic Flaw
To come off the cans from the headband , you grow the ear piece outwards and remove them . If they get twisted too far in a grip , the earpieces come loose on their own . It ’s annoying to have to readjust the headphones , and you question how durable the wiring could be .
This Is Weird…
The CLs were actually louder when connected to an iPhone 4S than to a MacBook Pro .

These may not execute the same grade of quality as the Bowers and Wilkins P5s , but the CLs just voice cheap .
Should You Buy It?
by all odds . Are there better sounding headphones out there ? Of course , but they ’re all likely bigger and bulkier , more expensive , or open - strain .
When you compare them to other lightweight , closed - back $ 200 pair of cans , there are n’t many that can top the centilitre . The P5s may have superscript structure and just imaging , and the TMA-1s may feel more durable , but neither combines price , design , portability and well-grounded quality in quite the same agency the CLs do .
Real multitude are n’t implicated with the extreme nuance of audio recording . But they ’re sure that $ 20 pair is n’t quite trim down it . For them , these Harman Kardons are a very good brace of headphone .
