Another episode of Stitchers airs tonight on ABC Family . And I ’ve been watch the show , though I have n’t recapped it since the first installment . But , as this clip from last week ’s episode show , Stitchers has a fatal flaw that gain it all-fired most impossible to bribe into .
Spoilers …
What you ’re look at there is a flashback to when Marta , the original field of study of the Stitcher program , had a near - fatal chance event that put her into a coma . Because this is a super - data-based procedure , where you ’re connecting a hold out person ’s head to a utter person ’s mentality and allowing her to explore the cadaver ’s memories . So there are certain risks . And the head scientific discipline eccentric , Cameron , is twitchy about the raw Stitcher , Kirsten , because he ’s worried the same thing will hap to her .

With me so far ? Great .
Here ’s the problem . If your highly experimental science course of study nearly killed its only former test depicted object , you ’d expect the citizenry race it to be incredibly serious about safety . alternatively , they give Kirsten an incredibly complicated ( and harrassy ) process for terminate her “ stitch ” — she has to typewrite her own name on a keyboard , followed by the computer code “ iheartlinus ” — Linus being the name of the dorky guy who does all the scheduling ‘ n ’ stuff . Why would n’t they just give her a giant crimson button that she can hit when she needs to empty out of someone ’s mental capacity ? Why hale her to declare her deathless erotic love for Linus every clock time she ’s in danger of having her mind destroyed by a dead person ’s messed up consciousness ?
In worldwide , it wrecks my suspension of disbelief to see the nerd run this program make Star Trek jokes and goofing around when they ’re about to absorb Kirsten into a potentially biography - terminate position . Especially Cameron , who the show wants us to think is traumatise by Marta ’s fate , and overprotective of Kirsten as a termination . You ca n’t have it both way , show . Not to mention all the stuff about how they could n’t manage to do any psych tests or other sorts of tests of Kirsten before subjecting her to the Stitch because there was just no time — even thought they ’d had her under surveillance for an entire year .

The sad thing is , Stitchers is trying to settle into a groove of being a sport , zippy show about nerds lick offence together . And it ’s almost catch the ingredients to be another Warehouse 13 — the form even include Allison Scagliotti , for Artie ’s sake ! But you could have the wonk being peculiar and quippy most of the clip , and yet deucedly serious when it comes metre to do their chore and safeguard a living person ’s brain that they ’re looping into a all in person ’s . The funny remark will be even funnier if they actually seem like people who are good at their jobs .
Anyway , the show ca n’t keep cue us that their tech nearly killed someone , and also keep prompt us that Kirsten is forced to type her own name plus “ iheartlinus ” every time she ’s in risk of ending up like Marta . It just kills my power to believe in what ’s going on . nibble one , show !
