Much of what befall inDeadpool & Wolverinewas a entire surprise , but that it hadtwo scenes in the creditswas not . If any Marvel motion picture was ever going to have end - citation aspect , it wasDeadpool & Wolverine . But what those scenes actually were — one a heartfelt , nostalgic yet funny tribute , the other a topnotch dirty recall — were as irregular as everything else .
“ Deadpool is just going to do it Deadpool ’s way , ” Shane Reid , an editor in chief ofDeadpool & Wolverine , told io9 . “ The thing that you ’re expect to see is just not exactly what you ’re die to get . ” Reid said the expletive - fill up Johnny Storm fustian at the oddment of the acknowledgment was always go to be the end - credits tag ; there was never a big , multiverse - teasing scene shot . “ [ Johnny Storm ] was always the end - credit setting , ” he said . “ Which I retrieve was a brilliant recall to a caper from early on in the celluloid . Reid helped put that sequence together and explain that not only did the footage get along from a lot of piazza , each and every somebody you see had to okay their appearance . “ [ Ryan ’s ] team at Maximum Effort sent us a long ton of YouTube clips , ” Reid explains . “ I went into burn some special feature and just found as much B - roll as we could . And , then found these little moment of Ryan interviewing as Deadpool in[X - gentleman ] Origins : [ Wolverine]and Hugh [ Jackman ] interview and it was n’t like it was supposed to serve just them , but it was like , ‘ Okay , we have see these two characters and you guys have been on quite a journey . Why do n’t we just sort of shut down that into this ? ' ”
The reason Blade was n’t in there is that theBlademovies are possess by New Line , which is n’t under Disney , but Reid “ would have loved to have Blade in there . ” But he did love put all these other the great unwashed in the film . “ We had to realize all that stuff with the actors and any cameos and anyone who appeared , like the James Mangold or anybody who had just had their face in it , ” Reid said . “ And those guys [ Reynolds and Levy ] did the hard sell of calling those celebrity and , in describing what they were doing and their purpose behind it , got everyone approve . And , it was a feat of a lot of people ’s work to build something that was just quite simply a honey letter of the alphabet . ”
Reid does admit though that he revel people think it might be a tease for a futureX - Menmovie when it first get going . “ I love when I ’m in the audience and the ‘ ex ’ come on for that bequest reel and you feel mass going like , ‘ Oh , what ’s happen here ? ' ” he pronounce . “ Then you catch people like sitting balance up in their seats , like just determine it , sort of loose - eyed the whole time . Like , like just this dopamine hit … And I think it ’s that ’s Ryan ’s learning ability . Like , how do you take something that ’s expected and subvert it and do something that feels unaccompanied to the character ? ”
