Karen Pittmanwill not return toAnd Just Like That…
The 37-year-oldactress portrayed Professor Nya Wallace, a friend ofMiranda Hobbes(Cynthia Nixon) in the Max show.
“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons ofAnd Just Like That…,” a spokesperson for Max said in a statement to PEOPLE. “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others.”
“Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible,” explained the streamer’s representative.
“Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 ofAnd Just Like That…,” the representative added. “Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”

Nya divorced her husband, Andre (LeRoy McClain), in the second season, while Miranda separated from her husband, Steve (David Eigenberg). As both women navigated their separations, they found love shortly after and stood beside each other as they entered new relationships.

Pittman previously told PEOPLEthat “it’s a lot of fun to portray” a woman experiencing a change in her romantic relationships.
She also spoke about her character’s friendship with Miranda, noting how their dynamic “explore[s] female relationships and how women support each other through these challenging times in funny and comedic ways,” she explained to PEOPLE.
“That is what I think the show does so well,” added Pittman. “It’s about sisterhood and female friendship, but it also is really about love. That’s a joyful place to be in.”
Additionally,Netflix announced earlier this monththat Pittman will star in a reimagination ofJudy Blume’s 1975 novelForever. Pittman will portray Dawn Edwards, the mother to lead Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr.).
