Prince Williamisn’t too cool for ghouls — or so easily spooked!
The Prince of Wales, 41, reportedly knew just what to say upon learning thatAnmer Hallwas haunted.Queen Elizabethgifted her grandson with the stately Georgian mansion in the Norfolk countryside when he marriedKate Middletonin 2011, and paranormal historian Richard Felix has claimed that the royal didn’t wince about the ghost of Anmer Hall.
“When the Prince of Wales and Princess of Wales moved into Anmer Hall, it’s more or less on the Sandringham Estate, there was a ghost there of a Catholic priest that lived there and was hanged, drawn and quartered for high treason, and for some reason, has returned to his home,” Felix said on the latest episode ofHello! A Right Royal Podcast,titled “Ghost Story Special.”

“Although he was executed in York, they’ve actually heard his voice. And they have seen the ghost of what they say is a priest, wandering around Anmer Hall,” he continued. “Before the Waleses moved in, they were warned about the ghost and the comment was, I presume it was from Prince William, he said, ‘No old hall would be complete without a ghost, would it?’ ”
Felix, a veteran ghost tour guide based in the U.K., was likely referring to Henry Walpole, the Jesuit priest who was executed in 1595 for his faith, according toThe Tudor Society. Legend has it that he returned to his family’s Anmer Hall home after death with his spirit being seen roaming the grounds.

All spooky sightings aside, Anmer Hall has become a favorite escape for William and Kate as their family has expanded through the years. The couple is known to spend school breaks, weekends and holidays at the country home about 110 miles north of London with their three kids,Prince George, 10,Princess Charlotte, 8, andPrince Louis, 5 — and they might even have a trip planned there in the coming days!
George, Charlotte and Louis are currently on half-term break from theLambrook Schooland are set to return to the classroom just in time for a kid-favorite holiday: Halloween. While the Prince and Princess of Wales havescaled back their schedulesto spend extra time with their children during the school break, as they typically do, the parents might be keeping their kids busy with fall and Halloween-related activities during their time off, as they have in the past.

In 2019, Kate was spotted in a local supermarket in Norfolk with Prince George and Princess Charlottepicking out Halloween costumes. Local Kathy Whittaker spotted the Duchess of Cambridge, as she was styled at the time, browsing the holiday section.
“I didn’t see what she actually bought. The lady that told me she was there had children with her, and she said Kate was asking her children what they were going to be for Halloween,” Whittaker reportedly said. “I think she bought some Halloween bits for her kids, but I don’t know what.”
While some paranormal reports around the royal residences are almost as old as the properties themselves, it’s never stopped the royal kids from dressing up in costume.

In January, London resident Jay Rutland shared a photo of Princess Kate taking Prince George, Prince Charlotte and Prince Louis around to collect candy on Halloween in 2022, according toHello!magazine.
“For anyone doubting how down to earth William and Kate are… This is Kate with their kids knocking on our door in London trick-or-treating at Halloween,” Rutland captioned the snap, according to the outlet.
