Eva Marcille‘s October nuptials to husband Michael Sterling sure lookedperfect in pictures. But just three weeks before the wedding, the formerAmerica’s Next Top Modelwinner was in tears — crying over the fact that she didn’t have a reception dress.
The scene unfolded on Sunday’sReal Housewives of Atlanta, as Marcille, 34, tried on backup dresses that might work.
As she explained, “s— hit the fan” when she got a call from her designer explaining that the fabric she had planned for her reception dress “no longer exists.”
“I have officially decided to wear three dresses — I have a ceremony dress and I have a farewell dress. That’s squared away. But now, I’m missing a whole dress,” Marcille explained.
Though one of her bridesmaids, who also happened to be a stylist, came through with options, none of them worked for Marcille. “All of these other dresses, they’re pretty. But I don’t want just a pretty dress. I don’t want just a white dress or just a wedding dress. I want something that feels like it was made for me,” she said.

It didn’t take long for the tears to come. Frustrated with her options, Marcille collapsed, sobbing to her friend.
She then revealed that she was far over budget on her wedding as it was, and still hadn’t found a dress for Marley Rae, her 4-year-old daughter with exKevin McCall.
“I spent so much money on this wedding,” Marcille said. “I was supposed to have 150 guests, my count is 220. I still got to pay the rest of the venue, now I got to pay all of this overage — food, get more floral, get more everything. I haven’t gotten Marley’s dress yet. Now I have to get an entire dress?”
“I’m over budget, let’s just call a spade a spade. Stuff is costing way more than I anticipated,” Marcille said, later confessing that she was $50,000 over what she anticipated she would be spending. “Not only am I at my wits end with what do I do, but I don’t even have any energy to figure it out.”

Adding to it all was the fact that Marcille had just buried her grandfather.
“As soon as I left Tokyo, I left to see my grandfather. He was still on life support and I held his hand and I rubbed his legs and his feet. And I just talked to him,” Marcille recalled. “I did everything that I really wanted to do. Before he left.”
Marcille and Sterling wed during a private ceremony in Atlanta on Oct. 8, 2018.
Both got engaged the previous Christmas, after over a year of dating. Their wedding came nearly five months after Marcille gave birth to their first child together, son Michael Todd Sterling Jr.
As for the dress, all seemed to work out in the end. According to photos she shared on Instagram, Marcille wore astrapless Galia Lahav ballgown with a heart-shaped neckline, fitted sheer bodice, and a full skirt— all adorned with lace appliqués.
She appeared to later turn up up the affair in a mermaid-cut own with a sheer neckline and flowing sleeves.
