April Fool’s Day came early onVanderpump Rules.

On Monday night’s episode, newly engagedJax Taylortries to pull a fast one on exStassi Schroederon the cast’s trip to Mexico.

“Oh my god, are you like sulking?” she asks as he stares out at the scenery.

“I’m taking it all in,” he insists, before changing his tone. “Actually, you know what? I do have something to tell you. Now is probably as good a time as any. I just want you to know I still have feelings for you.

After a second of stunned silence, Stassi doesn’t miss a beat.

“You’re so f—ing lame,” she says.

“I know, I was — I can’t do it, I’m sorry,” he says as they both burst out laughing.

The two dated on and off during the first two seasons ofVanderpump Rules, and he cheated on her multiple times — including with best friend Kristen Doute). In the years since, they’ve both moved on (he’s engagedto costar Brittany Cartwright) and forged a platonic friendship.

All kidding aside, though, Jax is concerned about how Stassi treats Beau.

“No, seriously. Are you done yelling at Beau?”

“No. Listen, you gotta keep your boyfriends down. You gotta keep ’em right here,” she jokes.

“Not Beau,” Jax insists. “Beau is a good one, man. You’ve got a gem.”

“You’re giving me advice right now, which is f—ing hysterical,” she says.

“Listen, I’m just saying, cut the guy some slack. Patrick deserves that. Frank deserves that,” Jax says, listing her other exes. “I deserve that. But Beau does not deserve that. Honestly, I have a little bit of a man crush on him. So just loosen up a little. Be nice. Pick and choose your battles.”

In a confessional, Stassi is shocked to admit she agrees: “After 10 years of Jax acting like a caveman on spring break, now he’s waxing poetic? And, I hate saying this, but he’s not wrong.”

But that night, she falls back into her old pattern, fighting with Beau because he encouraged her to dance on stage with her friends at the club, and she thinks he’d rather party with the boys until 3 a.m. than go to bed with her.

“You can’t talk to me this way,” he says, tearing up. “It drives me crazy. I feel battered.”

“That is so unfair,” she insists.

“You have this thought that all I want to do is go out and not be with you. It’s like this abandoned child thing. When have I abandoned you?” he asks.

But he can’t get through to her.

“I don’t want to be with someone that at 3 in the morning wants to f—ing go still party,” she yells. “I’m not gonna go to sleep alone. I’m not. I don’t want to.”

“I f—ing worship you. You are my heart. You are my future. Don’t treat me like this,” he says through tears.

Later, she runs through her parents’ many divorces and “warning signs” in her own relationships.

“I can’t be f—ed over again,” she cries.

“You have some dark s— that you need to get out, but you’re putting it on me, and I don’t deserve it,” he says. “You need to figure out your s—. How are we going to have a future if you can’t trust me?”
